1. Cherubims

So He drove out the man; and He placed at the east of the garden of Eden cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.

- Genesis 3:24

2. Seraphims

Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

- Isaiah 6:2

3. Principalities

To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God.

- Ephesians 3:10

4. Powers

And ye are complete in Him, which is the Head of all principality and power.

- Colossians 2:10

5. Thrones

For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him.

- Colossians 1:16

6. Dominions

Far above all principality, and power and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come.

- Ephesians 1:21

7. Archangels

For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.

- I Thessalonians 4:16

    a. Michael

Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

    b. Gabriel

And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to show thee these glad tidings.

The Bible does not speak in great detail about all the specific services that angels perform, but Scripture does inform us of the angelic functions described in the chart on the following page.

How do the orders and vast numbers of angels testify of:

- God's glory?







How are the scriptural teachings of various works of God's host of angels, a rich comfort to God's true children and a terror to the unbeliever?
