Those who are outside of a saving relationship with Christ shall stand on their own. They must give an account to God for all their sinful motives, desires, thoughts, words, and actions, God's righteous standard in perfect holiness and obedience -His law requires a life of perfect love to God and others. The death penalty is required for everyone who has rebelled against God by departing from His standard and transgressing His law.

As no person since our fall in Adam has perfectly maintained God's standard of holiness in his will, thoughts, words, or actions, a person's state for eternity depends upon His relationship to Jesus Christ, upon God's grace to him and not his own merits, upon Christ's works for him and not his own. "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other Name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).

The following account of the Passover night in Egypt provides a clear representation of the life-or-death separation made by whether one is standing behind the blood of the slain lamb or not.

Read the following instructions and history pertaining to the Passover feast in the Old Testament in Exodus 12:

Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house.
Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats: and ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening. And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.
For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD. And the blood shall be to you for a token
