And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which showed me these things.

Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.

- Revelation 22:8-9

A fiery stream issued and came forth from before Him: thousand thousands ministered unto Him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him: the judgment 'Aras set, and the books were opened.

- Daniel 7:10

And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands.

- Revelation 5:11

For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

- Matthew 22:30

Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

- Job 38:4,7

God created great numbers of angels. We do not know the exact number, but Scripture informs us that they are a great host, numbering hundreds of millions. Angels do not increase in number as mankind; their full number was created in the beginning. No additional angels have been, or are being, born.

"When were the angels created?" Angela asked her teacher.

"When do you think?" her teacher asked the class.

"During the six days of creation," was the answer, "because all things in heaven and earth were created in these six days." Together they found the following biblical support for their answer.

Thus the heavens and earth were finished, and all the host of them.

- Genesis 2:1

For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is.

- Exodus 20:11a

Thou, even Thou, art LORD alone; Thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and Thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth Thee.

- Nehemiah 9:6

For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him.

- Colossians 1:16

"But, I wanted to know, on which of the six days did God create the angels?" Angela replied.

"Probably on the first day," her teacher answered. "We know from Genesis 1: 1 that God created the heavens and the earth on the first day. In Job 38:4-7, we read that the angels sang together and shouted for joy when God laid the foundations of (or created), the earth."

God's Word speaks of various angelic orders - different ranking or classes of angels. These are named in the chart on the opposite page.
