"Mike, there are others who believe as you do on this point," his teacher replied, "but remember that while Jesus has two natures, He is one Person. We cannot separate Jesus into two people and say this one Person is Jesus, the man, and this second Person is Jesus, who is God.
"Mike, let me ask you a question. When you see a picture of Jesus, are you to reverence Christ more than the others in the picture?"
"Yes, I think so."
"Why, Mike?"
"Because He is God."
"Do you see, Mike, that you are not only viewing Jesus as a human being?"
The teacher addressed his catechism class and said, "I would like you to understand both of the following thoughts:
"First, if a person uses and considers pictures of Jesus to be special, but claims they are only pictures of His human body, then they reverence Jesus' human nature which transgresses the first commandment, which states that we must reverence and worship God alone.
"Secondly, if a person reverences pictures of Jesus, acknowledging Him to be divine, then he transgresses the second commandment which forbids making any form or likeness of God."
