same truth - their God-given ruling and representative place in the midst of the congregation.

God calls us to worship Him with desire and delight. Our entire Sabbath Day is to be observed with a holy delight, especially when worshipping God in His house. God testifies of this when He stated, "If thou turn away thy foot from the Sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on My holy day; and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour Him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it" (Isaiah 58:13-14).

Are you actively worshipping God in His house with delight?

Church liturgy not only applies to the normal Sunday services, held two or three times a Sunday to emphasize that the entire day is to be set aside for holiness to, and the worship of, God. Church liturgy also applies to various special services and events which are part of church life. Liturgical forms, which include appropriate explanations, prayers, and questions (located in the liturgy section of our Psalter - pages 55 through 79), are provided for the following events:

• Baptism (believing adults and children of believers)


• Lord's Supper


• Public Confession of Faith (questions only)


• Public Confession of Guilt (questions only)


• Excommunication


• Readmitting Excommunicated Persons


• Ordination (of Ministers, Elders, Deacons, Professors of Theology, and Missionaries)


• Marriage

Also included in this section of the Psalter (pages 80 -87) is a form for "The Consolation of the Sick." This is not included in the liturgy for church services, but can be used by the church on an individual basis when counseling seriously ill or dying persons.
