False logic underlies both of the previous objections to infant baptism. The Lord Jesus blessed little children -infants that were brought to Him. Was His blessing of no use because the infants could not understand it or exercise faith in this event at the time? If He could truly bless infants then, can He not truly bless them now? .

Mr. Walter wishes to deed a beautiful portion of his land to a newborn prince of his country. He donates the property and the official seal is applied to the transaction papers which bear the prince's name. Because the infant prince does not understand or cannot believe that he is heir to this property, does this mean that the sealed document is of no value?

How can this example assist in illustrating the truth that many items, including baptism, can be of great value to a person without his present knowledge or appreciation of it?

6. The New Testament examples of baptism include believers' families. When examining the thirteen examples of New Testament baptisms, the following are cases in which the baptized adult had a family (or household) that was present.

  • Cornelius (Acts 10:48)

  • Lydia (Acts 16:15)

  • Philippi an jailor (Acts 16:33)]

  • Crispus (Acts 18:8)

  • Stephanus (I Corinthians 1:14-16)

  • And they brought young children to Him, that He should touch them: and His disciples rebuked those that brought them.
But when Jesus saw it, He was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.
And He took them up in His arms, put His hands upon them, and blessed them.

    -Mark 10:13-16
