In the Passover celebration, who or what is represented by the male lamb in the prime of its life and without blemish; by its blood being shed; by the blood's personal application to the Israelites' home; by a person's only safety being his standing behind the blood of the lamb when the angel of judgment passed over the entire land?

Imagine the mixture of cries heard throughout the land on the same Passover night. The cries of terror and sorrow from the "Egyptians" (the world's people) were offset by the cries of victory and joy of the "Israelites" (God's people), as they left their "house of bondage" (the sinful world). How does this scene picture the great separation that shall be witnessed on the final judgment day?
