When the Son of man shall come in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then shall He sit upon the throne of His glory:

If a person's soul is judged and sent to heaven or hell when he dies, why is the final judgment necessary? Does not everyone know his sentence already? The final judgment is necessary for the following reasons:.

1.The righteous justice and mercy of God must be publicly declared -God's justice shall be glorified before all people and angels in the condemnation of the wicked, and His mercy, in the salvation of the saved.

2. Jesus Christ and His people must be publicly glorified -. Jesus was publicly humiliated during His life on earth and especially upon the cross. Only His people witnessed a resurrected Christ. His people were also frequently despised and rejected on earth. On the final judgment day, Jesus shall publicly appear in His glory and all knees shall bow and acknowledge Him as God. His people will also be publicly exalted at Christ's right hand.

3. Both soul and body must be judged and sentenced -The exact degree of glory or punishment everyone will receive in soul and body shall be pronounced. Prior to this time, everyone's judgment and its execution pertained only to their souls; it was only spiritual.

4. Those still living upon the earth when Jesus returns need to be judged and sentenced -This will also take place in their eternal bodies, for their mortal bodies shall be instantly changed by God into immortal ones.
