true believers in Jesus Christ may enter. Christ is presently working in heaven, preparing a special dwelling place, a mansion, where each one of His children will live eternally. While Jesus Christ is in heaven preparing a place for His people, God the Holy Spirit is working in the hearts of the saints, preparing them for their place in heaven. Therefore heaven shall be a prepared place for a prepared people, and all shall be the work of a preparing Father who decreed this glorious, gracious way of saving and glorifying lost sinners. include "../doctrineincs/regufont.html"; ?>As we conclude our study of biblical eschatology and Bible doctrine in general, it is important to focus on the following truths:
1. The necessity to prayerfully study God's Word to obtain the clearest possible scriptural view of each doctrinal subject.
2. As we do so, we must develop a proper spirit of discernment. Weare not to tolerate teachings which contradict the dogmas (core doctrines necessary for salvation) of Scripture -the Trinity, salvation by grace, the necessity of true conversion, etc.
We are to develop a humble and charitable spirit regarding scriptural doctrines not necessary for salvation that are subject to various emphases of interpretation -e.g., millennial views, degrees of literal or spiritual interpretation of prophecies regarding the end of the world and life in heaven, baptism, or methods of church government. While point Number One above remains true, we may not judge those with other interpretations on these matters to be unbelievers or unsaved. We all "see through a glass darkly" in matters not clearly expounded in Scripture.
3. The more clearly we understand the truths (the doctrines) of God's Word and basis for our belief in them, the more this knowledge should help to equip us to speak with others about God's Word and its truth. |
