Strong Drink

William S. Sharpe wrote the following poem entitled:

The Twenty "D's" of Strong Drink

    Demands its toll,
    Defects the body mechanism,
    Decreases chances of success,
    Diminishes income,
    Deadens noble instincts,
    Drowns responsibility,
    Desires nothing good,
    Delights in evil,
    Despises good company,
    Deceives its patrons,
    Diseases the body,
    Drives away self-respect,
    Darkens the outlook,
    Destroys its user,
    Draws misery and woe,
    Defies good judgment,
    Destroys the body,
    Denounces God's law,
    Damns the soul,
    "Whosoever is Deceived thereby
    is not wise" (Prov. 20:1).
