If a person is truly sincere in that which he believes, does this necessarily mean that he is right? Can a person be sincere, but be sincerely wrong?

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

- Hebrews 11:3

And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven , and earth, and the sea, nd all things that are therein.

- Acts 14:15

The native wisemen in the previous story made several careful observations. They then sincerely described what they believed to be the most logical explanation of the object's origin and formation. However, due to the limitations of their knowledge and experience, their assumption and explanations were wrong. They were sincere - but, sincerely mistaken.

This same principle applies to scientific theories regarding origins of the universe and life on earth. Due to the impossibility of actually observing their formation, the question of origins is not provable scientifically, but is believed by faith.

"The observable fact that many animals have similar bones, organs, and body systems shows that they evolved from one common type," Margaret argued.

"I don't agree," Lisa retorted. "These common characteristics reveal that they were made by the same Creator. "

Which aspects of the two girls' arguments are scientific observations? Which are personal beliefs or theories?

"Where do you believe everything came from?" David asked.

"From God who created all things," responded Mark.

"Where did God come from?"

"I do not know," Mark answered hesitantly, "I believe ... that He always existed."

"You see," laughed Dave. "You believe in things that you cannot prove."
