However, Dave laughed too soon, for Mark decided to ask him the same questions. "Where do you believe everything came from?" he asked.

"Complex life gradually developed from simpler forms."

"From where did the simpler forms of life come?"

"From non-living matter."

"Where did the non-living matter come from?"

"Probably from an explosion of a huge substance of original matter and energy that blew apart billions of years ago."

"From where did that original substance come?"

This time David hesitated, "I don't know. I believe ... that it always existed."

Answers concerning origins cannot be proven scientifically; they are believed by faith. Those believing in God's Word accept creation by faith; non-believers accept evolution by faith. The one group believes that life is the result of an eternal plan and purpose; the other that life is the result of a purposeless happening or accident.

It is important to observe that denying God's creation is not a small matter. The Bible begins with the important truth of God's creating work and refers back to it more than seventy-five times. The evolutionary theory attempts to replace God, teaching that life has come about by chance and that human beings are only higher forms of animals. Therefore, evolutionists believe that there is no Word or law of God, no such thing as sin, no eternal life or death, no need for salvation from sin, no divine miracles, and no divine Christ. Man is the highest creature; each person can determine right or wrong for himself; he is a "god" to himself. Humanism becomes the evolutionist's "religion" - his deepest belief. Science becomes his "bible" - his source of truth. This matter is very serious. The more evolution is believed by a person, school, or society, the more God will be replaced by "Mother Nature," God's laws by man's ideas, God's Word by scientific "truths," and living for God and eternal realities by living for self and temporal pleasures. Evolution rejects God, His Word, and the purpose for human life.

While one's belief in the beginning of all things is ultimately a matter of faith, scientific observation provides evidences which support biblical creation and contradict the evolutionary theory. Some evidences are:

How would believing that one is a developing animal in an accidental chain of evolutionary development greatly change a person's outlook on life? How would this person's life differ from a true Christian's? Are there "Christians" who do not believe the evolutionary view, but actually live as if it is true? How?
