Our personal conditions and situations can produce very different reactions to God's attributes. The following story can help to illustrate this truth:
A store is being robbed by four thieves. The owner of the store, held by two men, watches helplessly as several expensive items are being thrown into sacks by the other two burglars.
Suddenly, several policemen race into the store through both doorways. The storeowner and the thieves see the same policemen. Yet, the sight of the policemen causes opposite reactions - joy to the storeowner, and terror to the thieves. Why?
God is one - He is one perfect, glorious Being. Yet, His appearance will cause opposite reactions in various people. Why will God's presence be the cause of the greatest joy to some, and of the greatest terror to others? Will God's appearance produce great joy or fear within you?

Read the following Scripture verses: Luke 21:27-28 And then they shall see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for vour redemption draweth nigh. Revelation 6:15-17 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of Him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of His wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? The appearance of Jesus Christ as God and King will result in the greatest difference ever witnessed between people. Why will the appearance of the same Judge strike the deepest cords of joy in some, and terror in others? |
