  • Incommunicable - No likeness or resemblance found in man

  • Eternity - God's being without beginning or ending
  • Omnipresence - God's being in all places at all times
  • Immutability - God's being eternally the same; His unchangeablenes








  • Communicable - A faint trace or likeness found in man
  • God's attributes are usually divided into two groups:

      1. Incommunicable attributes

      2. Communicable attributes

    God's incommunicable attributes are the perfections of God in which there is no likeness or resemblance to be found in man. They are not "communicated" to man at all. The five incommunicable attributes are:

      1. Independence or Self-sufficiency

      2. Simplicity or Oneness

      3. Eternity

      4. Omnipresence or Everywhere-presence

      5. Immutability or Unchangeableness

    We, as human beings, are not independent; we need other people and things in order to live. We are made from many parts, but God is perfectly and entirely one. We have a beginning, but God does not; He is eternal. We can only be at one place at a time, but God is omnipresent; He is everywhere all the time. We change, but God is immutable; He never changes.

    These attributes are called "incommunicable" because there is no trace or likeness of them to be found in man. God's communicable attributes are the perfections of God in which some faint likeness can be found in man. They are "communicated" to man in a limited degree. God's communicable attributes are His:
