Why is a clear understanding of the Covenant of Works required for a proper comprehension of the Covenant of Grace? Why is the experience of my sin and misery necessary in order to appreciate Christ and His salvation?

Why is Jesus Christ the only person ever born into the human race without original sin?

    "How cute!"

    "He's the picture of his father."

    "There's no problem seeing whose baby he is!" "If he's not a perfect image of his father!"

    This natural scene is a picture of that which takes place spiritually when a child is born.

    Read Genesis 5:1-5:

    1. This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, in the likeness of God made He him;

    2. Male and female created He them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

    3. And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:

    4. And the days of Adam after he had begotten Seth were eight hundred years: and he begat sons and daughters:

    5. And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.

    What great contrast can be observed between verse 1 and 3? What sad result from this change is noted in verse 5?

    Since man's fall, all infants that are born resemble their fallen father. All are born with the guilt and pollution of original sin.

    The Lord Jesus Christ was the only exception. Why? Who was His Father? Of whom was He the express image, the "perfect picture"?
