The Bible speaks of the following three types of mediators: include "../doctrineincs/regufont.html"; ?>1. A messenger (or mediator of communication) - One who relates the thoughts of one party to another, as Moses frequently served as God's mouthpiece to Israel include "../doctrineincs/regufont.html"; ?>2. An advocate (or mediator of intercession) - One who pleads the cause of another, as Moses often did for the sins of the nation of Israel include "../doctrineincs/regufont.html"; ?>3. A peacemaker (or mediator of reconciliation) - One who pays the price for, and reconciles disagreeing parties; one who atones to make peace, as Judah offered to pay the full price so that Benjamin could be freed include "../doctrineincs/regufont.html"; ?>The following chart illustrates how the Lord Jesus Christ serves as Mediator between God and His people in all three of the previous manners:
To be the mediator of sinners, this person must be God, human, and perfectly sinless - all in one person. No other could fully satisfy God's attributes, reconcile God with sinners, and deliver others from sin and its results. |
